Summerset Quest 36” Built-In Grill – 3 Burners, 54,000 BTU & Rotisserie

54,000 BTUs Across Three Burners — More Surface, More Zones, More Dinner on the Table

The Summerset Quest 36-Inch turns a 36-inch cutout into a full outdoor cooking station — made in the USA, backed by a lifetime warranty, and loaded with every accessory you need on day one.

The Summerset Quest 36-Inch Built-In Gas Grill (QST36-NG / QST36-LP) is a three-burner, 304 stainless steel built-in grill designed for luxury outdoor kitchen islands that demand serious performance. Three 18,000 BTU U-tube main burners spread 54,000 BTUs across 673 square inches of primary cooking surface, while a 10,500 BTU angled infrared rear burner powers the included 40 lb-capacity rotisserie kit for whole-bird and large-roast cooking that delivers results at home. A drop-in griddle plate, smoker box, rib rack, and dual warming racks round out an accessory suite that comes standard — so the only thing you need to bring is the food. Sharp contemporary lines, a waterfall LED control panel, and halogen interior lighting make every cook as polished after dark as it is at noon.

What Sets the Quest 36 Apart From Everything Else at This Size

An extra burner and 161 more square inches than the 30-inch model means three independent heat zones, faster recovery after you load up the grates, and enough room to run a full multi-course spread without juggling pans.

54,000 BTU

Three-Burner Power That Recovers Fast

Three independent 18,000 BTU 304 stainless U-tube burners give you the heat output to preheat the grill in minutes and snap back to temperature the moment cold food hits the grates — no more stalling mid-sear while you wait for recovery.

673 in²

Room for Three Zones at Once

A 34¼" × 19½" primary cooking surface gives you genuine three-zone cooking — high-heat sear on one side, medium roast in the middle, low warm on the other — without food crowding or temperature bleed between zones.

10,500 BTU

Infrared Rear Burner for True Rotisserie

The angled infrared rear burner wraps radiant heat around the spit from behind, basting a whole bird or prime rib in its own drippings as it turns on the included 40 lb-capacity motor — the kind of result that usually requires a restaurant kitchen.

5-in-1

Complete Cooking Versatility, Nothing Extra to Buy

Grill, rotisserie, griddle, smoke, and slow-cook — the drop-in griddle plate, smoker box, rib rack, and rotisserie kit come in the box. You're not shopping for accessories before your first cook.

304 SS

Built to Last in Any Outdoor Climate

Full 304 stainless construction throughout — firebox, hood, handle, grates, and burners — resists corrosion, coastal salt air, and high-heat cycling without the surface rust you get from lower-grade materials after a couple of seasons.

LED + Halogen

Total Visibility Day and Night

A waterfall LED strip glows white across the control panel on standby and shifts knob bezels to red the moment a burner fires — you always know what's live. Halogen interior lights flood the entire 673-square-inch surface so you can cook with precision long after sunset.

Ceramic Briquette System — Consistent Heat, Better Flavor, Effortless Cleanup

Between the burners and the grates, ceramic briquette trays do three jobs at once: they radiate heat evenly across the full cooking surface to eliminate cold spots, vaporize drippings on contact to produce the kind of smoky flavor you associate with a real wood fire, and protect the burner tubes from grease buildup so they last longer. After the cook, the trays lift out for a quick wipe rather than a deep scrub of the firebox.

16-Inch Hood Clearance — Enough Room for a Whole Turkey on the Spit

The 18-gauge double-lined, spring-assisted hood opens to 16 inches of interior clearance — enough vertical room for a whole turkey, a standing rib roast, or a large pork shoulder turning on the rotisserie without touching the lid. The double-wall construction blocks heat discoloration on the exterior finish and locks in convection temperatures for more consistent roasting. An analog thermometer mounted in the hood lets you read internal temps without lifting the lid and bleeding heat.

Safety Features That Work Without You Thinking About Them

The rear burner flame-out system automatically cuts the gas supply to the infrared burner if the flame goes out — no manual shutoff required. The electronic Flame Thrower ignition with flash tube backup gives you a reliable spark every start, with a manual match-light option as a secondary. The removable, dishwasher-safe drip tray keeps grease management to a 30-second job at the end of a session rather than a reason to dread the next one.

The Deck & Den Take — If you're building an outdoor kitchen and have the counter space for a 36-inch opening, this is the size we'd push you toward. The jump from two to three burners isn't just about BTUs — it's about having true three-zone cooking without any compromise, and 673 square inches means you can genuinely cook for a larger group without running multiple batches. The accessory package makes the Quest 36 a complete outdoor cooking system from the first session, not just a grill you have to accessorize before it's useful. If you already have the 30-inch and are considering an island expansion, this is the upgrade that changes how you use your backyard.

Who the Summerset Quest 36-Inch Is For

  • Outdoor kitchen builders with a 36-inch cutout — the Quest 36 fills it with three independent burners, a full accessory kit, and performance that justifies the island investment.
  • Regular entertainers and larger households — 673 square inches of primary surface means you can cook for a crowd in one pass instead of two or three batches, and three zones let you manage proteins, vegetables, and a warm-hold all at once.
  • Grillers who want rotisserie, griddle, and smoke capability without buying extra equipment — every major cooking method is covered by what's in the box.
  • Homeowners in coastal, humid, or high-UV climates — 304 stainless throughout gives you meaningful corrosion resistance where lower-grade builds start showing rust within a couple of seasons.
  • Upgraders stepping up from a big-box or entry-level freestanding grill — the combination of even heat, three-zone separation, and the full lighting suite makes the difference immediately noticeable on the first cook.
  • Evening and year-round grillers — the waterfall LED panel, red-state bezel indicators, and halogen interior lights make grilling after dark as practical as cooking at noon, in any season.

Summerset Quest 36-Inch — Frequently Asked Questions

What are the cutout dimensions for the Quest 36-Inch?

The required cutout opening is 34½" wide × 19¾" deep × 10¼" high. Download the Cut-Out Sheet and Line Drawing above for contractor-ready reference. If your island is built from combustible materials (wood framing, etc.), the Summerset insulating grill liner is required and sold separately.

How many BTUs does the Quest 36 produce?

The three main U-tube burners produce 54,000 BTU combined (18,000 BTU each). The angled infrared rear burner adds 10,500 BTU when in use for rotisserie cooking. All burners are independently controlled so you can run any combination at any given time.

What accessories come included in the box?

The Quest 36 includes: rotisserie kit (spit and 40 lb-capacity motor), drop-in stainless steel griddle plate, stainless steel rib rack, smoker box, and a weatherproof vinyl grill head cover. Two multi-position warming racks are built into the grill. The only significant items sold separately are the freestanding cart and the insulating grill liner for combustible island builds.

Is the rotisserie kit included, and what is the motor's weight capacity?

Yes — the rotisserie kit comes in the box at no extra cost. The motor is rated for up to 40 lbs, which is enough for a whole turkey, a large roast chicken, a leg of lamb, or a bone-in prime rib. The motor plugs into a standard electrical outlet.

Can the Quest 36 be used freestanding instead of built-in?

Yes. The grill head can be paired with a Summerset Deluxe Cart for the 36-Inch Quest, sold separately, for a movable freestanding setup. The cart features folding side shelves, locking caster wheels, storage drawers, and a propane tank access door.

Is a grill liner required for built-in installation?

If your outdoor island uses combustible materials — wood framing, plastic composites — yes, the Summerset insulating grill liner is required by the manufacturer. It provides double-wall insulation to protect surrounding framing from heat transfer. Islands built from non-combustible materials (steel studs, concrete block) with proper clearances may not require it — always confirm with the installation manual and your local codes.

What clearances are required inside a built-in island?

A minimum of 14 inches of clearance is required on the right, left, and rear from protected combustible walls — 4 inches of non-combustible material plus an additional 10 inches to any combustible surface. The island enclosure must also include ventilation: at minimum a 4-inch vent opening at both the top and bottom to allow free airflow. Follow your local codes and the complete requirements in the user manual.

What fuel types are available, and can I convert between them?

The Quest 36 is available in Natural Gas (QST36-NG) and Liquid Propane (QST36-LP) — select your fuel type above before adding to cart. Fuel conversion between NG and LP may require a manufacturer-supplied conversion kit and professional installation; contact us before attempting any conversion.

What is Summerset's warranty on the Quest 36?

Summerset covers the Quest 36 with their Gold Standard Lifetime Warranty for construction, cooking grates, burners, burner covers, valves, heat zone separators, ceramic briquette systems, and temperature gauges — for the life of the original owner. Electrical components and all other parts carry a three-year warranty. Labor is excluded. The warranty must be registered online within 30 days of purchase and applies to the original purchaser at the original delivery site.

Does the warranty cover coastal or high-humidity environments?

Summerset's warranty does not cover discoloration, surface rust, corrosion, or oxidation from harsh environments, chemicals, or overheating — and coastal, humid, and salt-air environments are subject to manufacturer review. Regular cleaning, proper maintenance, and consistent use of the included grill cover are essential for long-term performance near the coast.

How do the bezel lights and waterfall LED work?

Each control knob has a backlit bezel that glows white when the burner is off and shifts to red when that burner is ignited and active — giving you an instant visual read on which zones are live without leaning over the grill. The waterfall LED strip runs the full width of the control panel face and stays illuminated for ambient lighting during evening cooks.

How does the ceramic briquette system improve cooking?

The ceramic briquette trays sit between the burners and the cooking grates. They absorb and re-radiate heat evenly across the full surface, reducing cold spots and improving consistency edge to edge. They also vaporize grease drippings on contact, generating smoke that adds flavor similar to charcoal or wood grilling. At the end of a session, the trays pull out easily for cleaning rather than requiring a deep scrub of the burner tubes.

How does the Quest 36 compare to the Quest 30?

The Quest 36 adds a third 18,000 BTU burner (54,000 BTU vs 36,000 BTU total), grows the primary cooking surface from 512 in² to 673 in², and widens the cutout from 28½" to 34½". Everything else — the infrared rear burner, accessory package, lighting suite, hood, briquette system, and warranty — is identical between the two models. If your island can accommodate the wider cutout, the 36-inch gives you true three-zone cooking that the 30-inch can't fully replicate.

Is the drip tray dishwasher-safe?

Yes. The grease drip tray is fully removable and dishwasher-safe, keeping post-cook grease management to a simple pull-and-rinse routine.

Does it come with a grill cover?

Yes — a weatherproof vinyl grill head cover is included. Using it consistently is especially important in coastal, humid, or high-UV environments to protect the stainless finish between cooks.

What shipping and return policies apply at Deck & Den?

Deck & Den offers free shipping on orders over $100 to the contiguous 48 states. The Quest 36 is covered by Deck & Den's 45-day return policy. Price matching is available — contact us with a qualifying authorized-dealer price and we'll match it.
